Where to look for school closing/delays/early releases news...

Hi, Parents!  Just a reminder that if we need to start school late, dismiss school early, or cancel school for the day due to inclement weather, that information will be broadcast on the radio(1590AM) and TV(channels 5, 8, 13).  We will follow the Boone Public Schools.  Even if Trinity is not listed separately, if the Boone Public schools are due to weather, know that we are included.  You can also get this information online at:  https://schoolalerts.iowa.gov/

Preparing for Christmas :)

The students will be singing the chorus and the whole assembly joining in for the verses. :)  And this is a very fun, jazzy version.  I can't promise that's going to be the case for this upcoming program, but perhaps we can work on that for next year. :)

Election Day

In preschool, we learned about election day by reading a book about voting and then doing our own preschool presidential election!  Students came to the polling booth, stated their name, were given a ballot, and went behind the curtain to cast their vote.  They each also received an "I Voted" 'sticker.'   Who will our president be for the next four years?  We will know soon!

Deal's Apple Orchard

Saturday evening, October 6^th, 6:00pm

Herman Park

The event, “Sing Away Hunger” begins at 6:00pm.  Mrs. Foley is going to play some songs on her guitar.  Two of her songs will be “Ha-la-la-la” and “Jesus Loves Me.”  She needs some students who will be there and be willing to come up front and help lead these songs! 

This will be a fun musical event with people from area churches performing music!  There will be a free will offering.  It’s schedule to go from 6:00-10:00 but feel free to come and go as you like!  But remember – Mrs. Foley will lead songs second, so it will probably begin sometime between 6:30-7:00.  Thank you for coming, bringing family and friends, and helping out!  

And don’t forget to bundle up! 

Deal's Apple Orchard Field Trip Reminder

Remember:  The 3s are going on Thursday morning to Deal's!   The 4s and PreK are going on Friday to Deal's!  We're praying the Lord blesses the trip - hopefully with good weather and lots of learning and fun had by all!

Share Bear

Each day, there are nine different jobs through which the students rotate.  One of those jobs is "Share Bear."  When a student brings a Share Bear home, he or she can then bring a special item to school the next class period to show and tell to the class.  Here are some photos of a few of the special Share Bear experiences so far this year.  :)

Please remember that today (Tuesday, September 25) is WHEELS DAY for 3s and PreK!  Students may bring their bikes, tricycles, scooters, etc. to school today.  And it's WHEELS DAY tomorrow for the 4s class!

MAT MAN

As part of our curriculum, we use something called "Handwriting Without Tears."  This helps students learn how to write letters using four basic pieces:  big line, little line, big curve, and little curve.  These can also be used to make other fun things - such as Mat Man! :)  There is a song we sing about Mat Man as we add each part.  This helps students recognize and draw themselves and other people more accurately.  Here are a couple pictures of the students helping to build Mat Man and then drawing him themselves. 

Singing Sunday September 16

This Sunday, September 16^th  at the 10:30am service is the first Sunday church service the preschool choir is singing at for the year.  We sing twice a semester.  I know many of you attend other churches on Sunday morning and if you are unable to make it, that is fine.  But we would LOVE to have as many there as possible and we NEED a lot of students to come and sing so we can be heard! 

Please come to the classroom between 10:15-10:20am.  Mrs. Foley will practice the song with the students and then will take the students up to the balcony to sing between the Bible readings.  Right before the children’s sermon, the students will be dismissed to go to the children’s sermon in the front of the church and then join their parents or family after that.

Shapes All Around Us

     We have been studying shapes in preschool these first few weeks of school.  This week, we're focusing on 3D shapes such as spheres, cones, cubes, cylinders, and rectangular prisms.  We have noticed that there are shapes all around us.  Today we got to have some fun with some spheres and enjoy the beautiful weather outside.  We worked on large-motor skills of throwing, catching, and kicking, while practicing our new vocabulary word - sphere!  :)  What shapes can you find with your child around your house?
