Harvest Parties :)

Thank you to the parents who helped out with the Harvest Parties!  The students had a blast with their costumes and special activities and treats!

One mom carved this neat pumpkin for us and taught us a prayer to God that we can remember when we carve pumpkins: 
Dear God,
As I carve my pumpkin help me say this prayer:

Open my mind so I can learn about You;
(Cut the top of the pumpkin)

Take away all my sin and forgive me for the wrong things I do.
(Clean out the inside)

Open my eyes so Your love I will see;
(Cut the eyes out in heart shapes)

I'm so sorry for turning up my nose to all you've given me.
(Cut a nose in the shape of a cross)

Open my ears so your word I will hear.
(Cut the ears shaped like the Bible)-we did rectangles

Open my mouth so I can tell others You're near
(cut the mouth in the shape of a fish)

Let Your light shine in all I say and do! Amen.
(Place a candle inside and light it)

Courageous Daniel

This week, our Bible lesson was about Daniel.  You can read about Daniel in the Bible in Daniel 6.  It was a good week (Red Ribbon week) to learn about Daniel as he is an awesome example of standing up for what is right and not giving in and doing the wrong thing.  The students enjoyed acting out the lesson and made lion masks this week to use as props. 

Red Ribbon Week - Say "No!" to Drugs!

This past week, the Trinity Lutheran School student council put together some fun themed days and special afternoon activities for the students as part of "Red Ribbon Week."  The PreK students got to join the rest of the school for a couple afternoons of relay games.  They had a blast!  They also loved wearing their "shades" to school and wearing crazy hair one day too! :) 

On crazy hair day, the older students of the school also had the opportunity to paint two of Boone's snowplows.  The PreK students went to check out the artwork on the plows!

Fire Station Visit

The students had a great time visiting the Boone Fire Station and learned a lot from the helpful fire fighters who gave us a tour.  A highlight for each group was getting to see a fire fighter slide down the brass pole at the station!  Next month, we will also have visits in our classroom from some fire fighters who will talk to us more about fire safety. 

"O" for Odd Octopus

Last week, we enjoyed learning about letter O and in the two older classes, each child made an octopus using O cereal and an O from a paper plate.  Students were encouraged to practice making patterns on the octopus' 8 tentacles.  

We also watched this video (link below) about this "odd octopus" called the mimic octopus.  What a strange and wonderful creature the Lord created!

Wheels Day!

The students really enjoyed bringing their wheels to school!  They made use of their community buildings they had created and had a great time taking their bikes into the shop to be fixed too! :)

Painting the Community :)

The students have been hard at work painting various "buildings" in preparation for Wheels Day coming up:  

3s –  Tuesday, Oct. 18^th

4s –  Monday, Oct. 17^th

PreK – Monday, Oct. 17^th 

On that day, please send a helmet along for your child to wear while riding his/her wheels in the parking lot.  And remember, if it is raining, we will postpone the event!

PreK Apple Orchard Fun!

Wow, what a fun afternoon! 

 Mrs. Black gave us a wonderful tour of the farm!

 We got to taste apples!

We got to jump around!


We can sing together, "Oh, the Lord is good to me!  And so I thank the Lord for giving me the things I need - the sun, and the rain, and the appleseed!  The Lord is good to me!  Amen!" 

Praise the Lord for a successful field trip and please pray that the 4s and 3s also enjoy their field trips to Grove Center next week!  :) 

Apple Orchard

Reminder!  The PreK class is heading to the apple orchard tomorrow, October 6th!  The 4s are going Monday, October 10th, and the 3s on Tuesday, October 11th.  Please remember to send your child's car seat along.  And if you are driving, please take your driver's license and insurance card up to the office to make a copy for our files.  Thank you!
