A Sad Farewell

The beginning of this week, the students and teachers were sad to discover that Marshmallow, a classroom pet, an albino African Clawed Aquatic Frog, was missing.  We suspected that the frog must have somehow jumped out of the aquarium and gotten lost.  Our suspicions were confirmed when the kindergarten students found Marshmallow on Tuesday in their classroom.  The frog unfortunately did not make it.  We are sad to say goodbye to our classroom pet frog, but are glad that we still have Blueberry the beta fish and Gary the snail.

Handwriting Without Tears

This year, we are starting to incorporate some of the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum for preschool.  Using various manipulatives, music, and four basic strokes (big line, little line, big line, little curve) students will be learning how to hold writing instruments and write all the upper case letters of the alphabet.  (Each one starting at the top!)  We've heard good things about this curriculum and hope that it will be helpful for our students here at preschool. 

Here is a picture of our first Handwriting Without Tears lesson as a whole group.  We're singing the song, "Tap, Tap, Tap" with the big lines.  :)

First Day Fun!

The students dove right into preschool today!  We toured the classroom and were introduced to all our new friends.  We're doing some fun art this week and working on singing the alphabet.  We're also learning about Jesus welcoming the children and saying, "Let the children come to me!"  Hope you enjoy these photos from the day.  I look forward to having the first day with the 3-year-old class tomorrow.  Please remember to return the beginning-of-the-year questionnaire about your student and the "all about me" page for the class books.  Also, be sure to check your child's backpack for the first newsletter later this week!

Open House - Thursday, August 18th!

Hello, everyone!  The preschool open house will be on a DIFFERENT day than the rest of Trinity school.  It will be on Thursday, August 18th.

To help prevent over-crowding the room, here are suggested times for the three different classes:

3-year-olds  5:30-6:15

4-year-olds 6:15-6:45

PreK class   6:45-7:30

This is your opportunity to preview the classroom, meet your classmates and teachers, and do a little art project. :)

Splish Splash Back To Preschool!

I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer!  This hot weather is perfect for going swimming or playing in the sprinkler!  This coming school year, the preschool room will have a water and fish theme.  I hope that the returning and all the new preschool students will have fun "diving into preschool!"

We have wonderful news to share here at the school.  Mr. Dale Karner has accepted the call to come and be the principal at Trinity!  Praise the Lord for providing!  We look forward to getting to know him at the school.  

Three upcoming events to keep in mind:

1)  Trinity registration evening is Thursday, August 4th, from 4:30-7:00pm. 

2)  Right before school starts, there will be an open house.  Please stay tuned for those dates.  There may be different dates/times for the three classes so that the room is not overly crowded.

3)  School begins on Monday August 22nd!  We look forward to seeing you then!
